Many of us who struggle with weight issues become anxious and worried when it comes down to eating out. This is mostly because we are afraid of messing up our diets or appearing too picky or hard to please. It is often difficult to have a good time socializing when you are constantly thinking of your commitment to your waistline. However all it takes is a little preparation and planning prior to a date.
First of all, it is important not to starve yourself in anticipation of the big dinner. When we starve ourselves we usually end up so hungry by the time we get to the restaurant that we end up ordering something that we would normally never eat. You either end up ordering too much food or something truly against your diet. And when you order too much food you will most likely overeat. Overeating is linked to fast weight gain and intestinal problems. So be sure not to starve yourself prior to your date.
Another way to avoid unhealthy diet choices while on a date is to relax. The fact is that dating is stressful. Many people revert to food as comfort when they are under stress. So if you are stressed out on a date, you might reach towards food for comfort. To avoid stress simply remember to relax and don't think too much about what the other person is thinking. The fact of the matter is that the other person does not care what you are eating and how you are eating it, all they are concerned about is getting to know your personality. Consequently, if you are all stressed out thinking about your meal and your diet, you might lose interest in maintaining a fascinating conversation with your date. So the next time you plan a dinner date, remember to relax and remain well fed throughout the day.
