How to Get Rid of Ovarian Cysts
by: peterhutch

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets within or on the surface of an ovary. Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority of ovarian cysts disappear without treatment within a few months. However, ovarian cysts - especially those that have ruptured - sometimes produce serious symptoms that can be life threatening.

Ovarian cysts are relatively common in all women who continue to experience menstruation. In many instances, ovarian cysts are completely asymptomatic: a woman will not experience any pain or other signs or symptoms which alert her to the fact that she has a cyst. Most ovarian cysts will resolve, even without treatment, after one or two menstrual cycles.

Ovarian cysts are usually a common and harmless swelling of one or both ovaries. These cysts most often occur in women who are between puberty and menopause, when the ovaries are in high gear propelling out mature eggs. The term functional means the cyst is not caused by any underlying disease or disorder, and that it will possibly resolve (shrink and disappear) on its own in a few weeks.

Essentially, an ovarian cyst is nothing more than a fluid-filled sac, like a blister, on an ovary. The ovary forms a follicle that ruptures when the egg is released every month during ovulation. If there is no pregnancy, the follicle dissolves. If it does not dissolve properly, then there's a cyst. Many women have cysts that come and go with their menstrual cycle, unfelt and unnoticed, naturally washed away.

Cysts are harmless sac - like growth in the deeper layers of the skin, which are filled with liquid, gaseous, or semisolid substance. Cysts can occur anywhere in the body and vary a lot in shape and size. The outer, or capsular, portion of a cyst is termed the cyst wall. A single cyst is likely to be an innocent finding, but multiple cysts, especially in the kidneys, can be indicative of polycystic kidney disease and may lead to renal problems.

Some doctors will recommend taking the birth control pill to prevent and get rid of ovarian cysts. The pill shrinks the cyst so you pass it when you have your cycle. Once again if the cyst does not pass on it's own and does not burst then you can look at having surgery, which could involve the removal of the ovary and cyst all the way up to a complete hysterectomy.

Recovery from surgery is usually rapid and complete, however actual recovery times will differ depending on the type of surgery you have experienced. Your ongoing prognosis is likely to be very good, although if you have not had your ovaries removed; it is common for cysts to reoccur.

Milk thistle - This is an important herb for the treatment of cysts. It can encourage the detoxification process, which means that abnormal cells will be destroyed and excess hormones excreted.

Pradrantak Churna is a complete herbal formulation to take care of female health problems. It is particularly effective in painful menstruation, pre menstrual syndrome (PMS), irregular menses, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and leucorrhoea. This herbal powder is a slight modification of classical Ayurvedic formula "Pushyanug" churna. The herb Saraca indica naturally balances the disturbed female hormones.
