by: Anne-lie Karlsson
Labor happens after completing the nine months of development of the fetus inside the mother's womb. When the labor begins you should prepare yourself to welcome the incoming of your baby. You should monitor your labor and the process of giving birth.

Other women cannot recognize that they are in a true labor, they are thinking it is still false labor. Yes women have different and unique labor but you should know the changes the you will undergo. As I told you before giving birth is a process which means it follows stages. Its a series of body processes before your baby will going out.

The first stage of giving birth is Labor which includes the contractions and dilating of the cervix. You can feel mild contractions, but when true labor is coming you can feel gradual, strong and painful contractions.

Women have different labor experience. Many first time mothers are afraid of labor because of what they seen on television or in a movie. Labor consist of contractions, opening of the cervix, and pressing the baby down. In this stage you can feel contractions but it is not painful.

If the women have a regular contractions, it is the stage now when the cervix being dilated. It last until the cervix fully open. For other women it took several days but they never notice it because of the absence of painful contractions while to others it took a few minutes.

Second stage of giving birth is pushing and delivery. At this stage the cervix is fully open so that the baby will come out. In this stage, it took two hours or long before baby will come out. However, many women have either shorter or longer period of giving birth.

The last stage was delivery of placenta. After a few minutes of delivering the baby, the placenta will come next to come out. Through the help of uterine contractions it pushing down the placenta. To deliver a placenta it occurs twenty minutes or long it depends it varies on the woman who are giving birth.

After that three stages your doctor will examine you especially your vagina if you have a tear so that your doctor can repair it. Your doctor will monitor you after giving birth if you have excessive bleeding or any complications arise during your labor.

On the other hand, a nurse will examine your baby its weight or an APGAR score of your baby. Indeed, the labor is somewhat a long process but you did it just enjoy the moment now with your little baby who grows in your womb nine months ago.
