Where people make big mistakes is in buying items on impulse without taking the time to research the items prior to the purchase.

Thrift stores as well as consignment shops can be great places to not only get great bargains, but you may be able to pick up some designer pieces that are at a fraction of the price they originally sold for and are still in like new condition. In the case of the non profit thrift stores that usually exist to raise money for some organization you are also getting the personal satisfaction of knowing that you are doing something positive for a good cause.

Another point to keep in mind is that brand names do not always mean quality clothing. It is far better to look for quality first instead of the name. Buy quality items that you can do more with than just buying something for the name.
